The British government is expected to publish all relevant correspondence related to the Lockerbie bomber, Sky News reported Monday.
The announcement came as Downing Street denied it was behind a deal to release Abdel Baset al-Megrahi, the sole person convicted in the December 1988 midair bombing of Pan Am Flight 103. Al-Megrahi, who is terminally ill with cancer, was released from a Scottish prison Aug. 20 and returned to his native Libya.
A spokesman for the British government said reports that al-Megrahi was let out of jail to protect the UK's oil interests were "completely untrue," according to Sky News.
As the controversy over the bomber's release intensifies, the first video of al Megrahi receiving medical treatment has emerged.
The clip, filmed by Britain's Channel 4 News, shows al-Megrahi refusing to give an answer when a reporter asks him if an oil deal prompted his release.
Al-Megrahi is seen hooked up to monitors, next to a copy of the Koran and a picture of Libyan leader Muammar al-Qaddafi.
