LANCASTER, Pa. – A small airplane that flew into restricted air space and caused the evacuation of the White House four years ago has been involved in a similar incident.
Federal officials say the 1970 Cessna 150 entered the no-fly zone Tuesday and was escorted down by two Coast Guard helicopters. The pilot's name wasn't released.
The plane is owned by the Vintage Aero Club, a group based at the Smoketown Airport near Lancaster, Pa.
A club spokesman says the pilot got confused. He was in restricted air space, but not within an inner 15-mile prohibited zone.
The spokesman says the plane was the same one another student flew to within three miles of the White House in 2005, forcing thousands to flee government buildings and military jets to scramble.
That pilot's license was revoked.
