LAS VEGAS – A prosecutor showed jurors a video of a parking lot bombing outside a Las Vegas Strip hotel in 2007.
Prosecutor David Stanton then took the lid from a foam coffee cup in his hand and revealed a replica of the small pipe bomb that killed 24-year-old Willebaldo Dorantes Antonio outside the Luxor hotel-casino.
Stanton said Friday that accused bombmaker Porfirio Duarte-Herrera and a friend identified as Omar Rueda-Denvers killed Dorantes Antonio because the man was dating the ex-girlfriend of Rueda-Denvers.
Duarte-Herrera and Rueda-Denvers could face the death penalty if convicted. They've pleaded not guilty to charges including first-degree murder.
Lawyers for each man said during opening statements that the other man was more responsible for the slaying.
