A county coroner in Idaho has confirmed that a body found floating in a canal is that of missing 8-year-old Robert Manwill.
In a statement Wednesday, Ada County coroner Erwin Sonnenberg said dental records confirm the identity. The cause of death remains unknown and is pending investigation.
A passerby called emergency workers Monday afternoon to report the body in the canal.
The boy reportedly disappeared July 24 after leaving his mother's apartment in Boise, and was the subject of intense search.
Police have said evidence in the case indicates suspicious circumstances surrounding the disappearance.
His father, Charles Manwill, lives in New Plymouth and has had custody of the child since 2008.
