WESTMINSTER, Mass. – Police say a Fitchburg man, who was wanted for questioning in the murderof a woman at his home, shot himself after a standoff with police in Westminster.
Ha Yang was in critical condition Sunday at the UMass Medical Center in Worcester.
Authorities had been searching for Yang after finding a woman's body inside the bedroom of his apartment of Friday evening.
State police found Yang at the Rodeway Inn in Westminster, and had been talking to him for several hours on Saturday. They say he shot himself after they fired tear gas into the room.
Police have not released the identity of the woman. Neighbors described her as Yang's girlfriend.
