LOS ANGELES – Dozens of people lined up early to get free pot at a medical marijuana dispensary in the San Fernando Valley.
J.T. Wiegman, whose family owns Roscoe's Compassionate Collective in Canoga Park, says the shop gave away 3.5 grams of marijuana, worth $55, to the first 100 patients Tuesday.
Recipients had to have medical marijuana cards, updated prescriptions and a coupon from Kush LA, a marijuana magazine.
Wiegman says hundreds of people called asking if the offer was for real.
Wiegman says the giveaway was partly a promotion for the three-month-old store and also aimed at underscoring that many dispensaries overcharge.
