LONDON – A British science teacher has been charged with the attempted murder of a 14-year-old student.
Nottinghamshire Police say Peter Harvey will appear in court Saturday to answer the charges.
Police say the attack on student Jack Waterhouse happened Wednesday at the All Saints Roman Catholic Comprehensive School in Mansfield.
The decision to charge Harvey, 49, was made Friday evening after an investigation. He had been in custody since the incident.
Waterhouse was found unconscious in a pool of blood after the attack. He has been hospitalized with serious head injuries.
Press reports suggest he was hit in the head by a metal weight. Two other students were also hurt.
