Authorities say a toddler who wandered barefoot to a stranger's Tampa Bay home has been reunited with his mother.

The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office says 2-year-old Marcus Willis and his mother were visiting from Georgia and staying at his grandfather's home.

On Monday morning, deputies say the boy walked to a neighbor's home and opened the front door. It was secured with a door chain, but the homeowner saw the boy's arm reaching through the opening.

Marcus' mother, Natasha Lee Cooper, woke up and couldn't find her son. She went outside and found the news media activity, which led her to the home where the boy had wandered.

Authorities say the case remains under investigation.
