A woman was found shot to death at a closed medical clinic in northwestern South Carolina, where a man was found with a gunshot wound to the head.

Multiple media outlets reported Monday that the 29-year-old woman was found dead at the Upstate Pain Management & Surgery Center in Seneca on Saturday afternoon. A man whose name has not been released was taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital for treatment. Police said he was in critical condition Sunday.

Oconee County Coroner Karl Addis identified the victim was Karla M. Benson of Newry, northeast of Seneca. It was not immediately clear if she worked at the clinic.

Seneca Police Chief John Covington says officers were called by a doctor who stopped by the clinic to drop off some office items and found the man. Police found the woman in a storage room.
