A judge will decide whether former NBA star Jayson Williams should be sentenced for covering up the shooting death of a hired driver more than seven years ago.

A hearing is set for Monday on prosecutors' request for a sentencing given Williams' recent erratic behavior, including an assault arrest in North Carolina.

The 41-year-old former NBA star has been free on bail since the 2002 death of Costas Christofi, despite being convicted in 2004 of attempting to cover up the killing. Sentencing has been delayed pending Williams' retrial on a reckless manslaughter count.

Defense attorneys are seeking to overturn the cover-up conviction on grounds of racial bias.
