A student from Auckland, New Zealand, charged with killing his wife along a park trail in New York state has waived extradition in Pennsylvania.

Blazej Kot's attorney says the 24-year-old Cornell University graduate student waived the proceedings Thursday afternoon in Bradford County, Pennsylvania. He will be returned to Ithaca, New York, to face a murder charge.

State police say Kot cut Caroline Coffey's throat June 2 on an Ithaca-area wooded trail. He was later found by state park police bleeding from a self-inflicted wound to his throat. Kot was airlifted to a hospital in Pennsylvania for treatment.

Coffey's body was found the next day.
