Police in northern New Jersey say a 28-year-old Manhattan chiropractor performed CPR to resuscitate a worker who suffered a severe electric shock.

Twenty-four-year-old Carlos Gamez and two co-workers were injured Tuesday morning when the aluminum ladder they were adjusting contacted a power line outside a Hackensack building.

The chiropractor, Keren Day, was driving to work from her Lodi home Tuesday morning when she saw the situation and pulled over.

She says Carlos Gamez's heart had stopped. He resumed breathing after she gave him chest compressions for about 90 seconds.

Hackensack police spokesman Frank Lomia says Gamez and two co-workers are in stable condition at Hackensack University Medical Center. They suffered burns to their hands and feet.
