Houston police say the boyfriend of a woman doused with gasoline and set on fire is sought in the front-door attack that left her critically burned.

Police spokeswoman Jodi Silva on Tuesday said 25-year-old Yuriel Vargas Alvarado was wanted on a charge of aggravated assault with serious bodily injury. Silva had no information on a hometown for the fugitive.

Silva says 33-year-old Juana Patricia DeLeon Hernandez suffered burns over 70 percent of her body in Sunday night's attack at her apartment.

Silva told The Associated Press that the victim heard a knock, opened the door, Alvarado punched her, threw her to the ground, then "threw gasoline, set her on fire and fled the scene."

The woman told neighbors, who helped put out the flames, that her boyfriend had assaulted her.
