A Pennsylvania man has pleaded not guilty to murder charges involving the death of a central New York police officer during a $1 million jewelry store heist.

Marion Pegese faces second-degree murder and 18 robbery charges. He was in Oneida County Court Friday.

Prosecutors say Pegese was one of four men who robbed a New Hartford jewelry store in February 2006. The intruders restrained store employees and fled with watches, rings and diamond jewelry.

Officer Joseph Corr was shot in the neck and killed while chasing two of the suspects. The man who police say fired the fatal shot was later killed in a shootout with authorities.

Another man caught at the scene was sentenced to 300 years in prison. A suspect in prison in New Jersey is expected to be charged.
