MIAMI – Authorities are trying to determine if six cats killed in a South Florida community are connected to a gruesome string of cat deaths.
Five feline bodies were found in the Palmetto Bay neighborhood Wednesday, and another was discovered Thursday.
About two dozen mysterious cat deaths have now been reported in two south Miami-Dade County communities and police say they have enough evidence to file charges in 15 of those cases.
Miami-Dade Police Detective Roy Rutland says the dead cats found in Palmetto Bay on Wednesday appear to have been mutilated.
In many of the other feline killings, the animals appeared to have been cut with a sharp, straight instrument.
So far, there's no indication the killer or killers plan to attack people.
