Obama's Exaggerated Stimulus Estimates

Not So Stimulating

During the stimulus debate, President Obama traveled around the country promising that hundreds of thousands of jobs would be created under his economic plan. His campaign-like rhetoric was even supported by White House press releases and charts.

Now the yellow line on the first chart indicates what the unemployment rate would be without the stimulus, and the red line is what the White House predicted the unemployment rate would look like with the stimulus.

But now that over 100 days have passed since the stimulus was signed into law, where does the actual unemployment rate stand?

On the second chart, you can see unemployment levels are much higher in the past three months than the White House had predicted, and now actually stands at its highest point in over 25 years.

I think the White House economic team may want to revisit those estimates, don't you think?

Called to Serve

Hillary Clinton went head-to-head with her husband's former top adviser on ABC's "This Week" Sunday, and as you can imagine, she faced some really tough questions.

The answer she gave when asked why she accepted the job of secretary of state is the subject of Liberal Translation:

SECRETARY OF STATE HILLARY CLINTON: Ultimately, it came down to my feeling that, number one, when your president asks you to do something for your country, you really need a good reason not to do it.

LIBERAL TRANSLATION: Unfortunately, being a sore loser wasn't a good enough reason.

CLINTON: Number two, if I had won...

LIBERAL TRANSLATION: I can guarantee you that I wouldn't be wasting your money on date nights.

CLINTON: ... and I had asked him to please help me serve our country, I would have hoped he would say yes.

LIBERAL TRANSLATION: Let's be serious. I would never have asked him. He's not qualified.

CLINTON: And finally I looked around our world, and I thought, you know, we are in just so many deep holes that everybody better grab a shovel and start digging out.

LIBERAL TRANSLATION: Is it 2016 yet?

Now I think both President Obama and Secretary Clinton subscribe to the mindset that it's important to keep your friends close, but your enemies even closer.

Now there's a shocker. Thomas' analysis was met with resounding approval from the thrill-up-my-leg MSNBC host. Just another shining moment for some of President Obama's biggest fans in the Obama-mania media.

Not on His Watch

Recent comments by Attorney General Eric Holder have raised concerns with gun rights advocates that the Obama administration may be open to revisiting the Clinton-era ban on so-called assault weapons and other Second Amendment restrictions.

Those concerns are not only being voiced by Republicans in Congress, but also by Oklahoma Democrat Dan Boren, who is troubled that members of his own party may be considering legislation that would infringe on your right to bear arms.

The congressman aired this video at a National Rifle Association conference:

CONGRESSMAN DAN BOREN, D-OKLA.: As someone who has defended the rights of sportsmen and hunters at the state and national level, you might be surprised to learn that I am a Democrat.

Just like you I have heard the rumors about how some in Congress want to renew a ban on so-called assault weapons, or how the left-wing wants to impose restrictions on the type of ammo we purchase.

But you don't have to be a Second Amendment supporter to know those kinds of proposals run opposite to the very rights our forefathers worked to hard to create.

It's good to see that some Democrats like Congressman Boren are willing to stand up to the fringe elements of their party in support of our Second Amendment.
