WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach County authorities say deputies shot and killed a Miami man just as he was about to slit his ex-girlfriend's throat.
The sheriff's office reports that 21-year-old Gleen Dean Gomez was pronounced dead at the scene, just after Friday morning's shooting.
About half an hour earlier, authorities say Gomez stormed into his 21-year-old ex-girlfriend's home and abducted her. The woman's mother called 911. Deputies eventually spotted a Gomez and the woman in a car and forced it to stop. Deputies say they saw Gomez crab the woman and bring a knife to her throat. That's when at least two deputies fired at the man.
The woman was treated for minor injuries from broken glass but was otherwise unharmed.
