A city council member in Colleyville, Texas, has resigned amid allegations that he pinned down and fondled a female foreign exchange student staying at his home.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported Wednesday that the student's therapist told authorities in April about the accusations against 57-year-old Tony Licata. He resigned his seat last week, on the same day he was arrested on suspicion of unlawful restraint.

Authorities say Licata touched the girl inappropriately and threw her on his bed in November. American Field Service, which arranged the girl's stay, says it has moved her to another host family.

Licata's attorney says her office is investigating the allegations.

A Tarrant County Jail official says Licata posted $2,500 bail and was released May 7.
