The mother of a dead infant whose body was lost by a northern New Jersey hospital has filed a lawsuit against the hospital, a number of its employees and an organ recovery organization.

The complaint was filed Monday in Superior Court in Hudson County, N.J., against Christ Hospital and the Sharing Network. It says 26-year-old Kalynn Moore of Jersey City may never know what happened to the corpse because of their carelessness, and may never have the emotional closure she needs.

A weeklong search in January that included dumps in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Kentucky failed to turn up the body. The hospital has been fined $20,500 by New Jersey state regulators.

A hospital spokeswoman did not immediately return a phone message.
