British police say they have made two arrests in connection with the discovery of a man's body parts strewn across the English countryside.

The case has challenged detectives and prompted repeated appeals for witnesses.

The man's legs, arms, and head have been found hidden near roads and in fields in the English counties of Hertfordshire and Leicestershire in recent weeks.

Police say they now know who the victim is but have not released his name.

Hertfordshire police gave scant details about the suspects Thursday, saying only that they were in their 20s and 30s. Both were arrested in London on Tuesday.
