A New Hampshire man surfing in Florida was attacked by a shark and underwent surgery to reattach three tendons in his left foot.

Fifty-two-year-old Bruce Klinker of Candia was bitten Sunday off the coast of Jupiter, Fla., where he and his daughter were visiting Klinker's mother.

Klinker's daughter, Bridgitte Ochsner of Portland, Maine, also was surfing in the Carlin Park area. She was not attacked. She told the Concord Monitor that a surgeon specializing in shark bites was summoned to the hospital and that her father was doing well and he'd be walking again after intense therapy.

Klinker, who has been surfing for 12 years, had ridden a wave in, then turned and began paddling back to Ochsner, yelling out that he was bit. He yelled at swimmers to get out of the water as he paddled back to shore. Ochsner followed him in. She said she never saw the shark.
