The family of an 8-year-old girl whose body was found in a suitcase pulled from a Northern California pond has held a private funeral for her.
Several dozen people gathered Wednesday at Fry Memorial Chapel for the service for Sandra Cantu. A horse-drawn carriage then carried the casket to the Tracy Mausoleum.
Sandra's funeral comes a day after her suspected killer, 28-year-old Melissa Huckaby, was arraigned on a murder charge with the special circumstances of kidnapping and sexual assault. The Sunday school teacher lived down the street from the Cantu family and is the mother of one of Sandra's playmates.

Police have not said how, where or why Sandra was killed.
A public memorial service is scheduled for her in Tracy on Thursday.
