AKRON, Ohio – An Ohio couple has gotten married in a pediatric intensive-care ward, with their 7-month-old son on a ventilator nearby.
Chadd and Melissa Kascsak from Niles in northeast Ohio had planned to tie the knot last year, but their plans were disrupted by the early arrival of baby Hunter. He was born 16 weeks prematurely and weighed just 1 pound.
Melissa Kascsak says Tuesday's wedding ceremony at Akron Children's Hospital allowed Hunter to be present, as well as his 7-year-old half brother Christian, her son from a previous marriage. A minister came in to perform the nuptials.
Little Hunter was dressed for the occasion in a sleeper made to look like a tuxedo.
His mother doesn't expect him home from the hospital for at least another month.
