Police in Manatee County say they have safely recovered a missing 2-month-old Florida girl and also have in their custody the woman believed to have kidnapped her while claiming to be an immigration official.

Sandra Cruz-Francisco had vanished from the Plant City Health Department clinic after the girl's mother, Rosa Sirilo-Francisco, said that Sandra was taken by a Hispanic woman named "Janet," who told her that she could help them avoid deportation, the Tampa Tribune reported.

Police said Sandra's mother handed the infant to the other woman after the two had a conversation, but then the woman fled with the child.

Police told the Tribune that they were looking for 30-year-old Amaila Tabata Pereira to question in the case.
