Most colleges admitted in a recent survey to knowingly enrolling illegal immigrants to degree and diploma programs under certain circumstances, The Chronicle of Higher Education reported.
According to a survey conducted by the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers, 54 percent of schools said they knowingly admit undocumented students.
The findings were based on 613 school responses, and when broken down, showed 70 percent of public two-year schools allowed illegals, compared to 41 percent of private, nonprofit four-year colleges.
Colleges surveyed said they look at several factors when decide whether or not to accept an undocumented student, including, if they certified their intention to seek legal status and if they graduated from an in-state high school, The Chronicle of Higher Education reported.
