A fire in a motor home is southeastern Washington has killed three women and seriously injured a man.

Police Chief Charles N. Fulton says he believes it's Walla Walla's worst loss of life in a fire in at least four decades.

Police say two of the women were in their teens and one was about 30.

Sgt. Randy Allessio say the man, 41-year-old Jared F. Allen of Milton-Freewater, Ore., escaped out a window and yelled for help. Allen was in serious condition Thursday in a Seattle hospital with burns on the upper part of his body.

The fire broke out just before 11 p.m. Wednesday in the motor home. Police and firefighters are investigating the cause.

Allessio says the heat was intense inside the 1970s vintage vehicle. It was parked next to the owner's home on a wooded lot in the city.
