A prominent New York lawyer accused in a $400 million fraud case has been freed under house arrest.

Marc Dreier left a Manhattan jail on Friday and went to a courthouse for processing. Then he signed a bond and was released.

Prosecutors had objected, citing his numerous trips overseas and their suspicions that he might have hidden money.

Dreier was arrested in early December on charges that he cheated hedge funds. He has pleaded not guilty.
