Authorities say the boyfriend of a South Carolina nurse whose remains were found in a wooded area was charged in the woman's death, authorities said.

The Union Daily Times reports that 28-year-old Jamel Dwane Good was arrested early Monday morning in the death of Maria Fernandez. He had been named a person of interest in the woman's disappearance.

Fernandez's remains were found last month in a remote area by a utility worker checking downed lines. She was last seen Sept. 3.

A call to Union County Sheriff David Taylor by The Associated Press was not immediately returned Monday.

Good, who picked her up after her shift ended at the Ellen Sagar Nursing home ended, hired an attorney shortly after Fernandez's death, the newspaper reported.

She was last seen that day on at his home, according to the Union Daily Times.
