A New Jersey man is credited with saving the life of a Web friend after tipping off California police that the teen was attempting to commit suicide during their webcam conversation.
Jesse Coltrane, 22, called Sacramento police after the unidentified 18-year-old cut his forearm with a razor, CBS 3 in Philadelphia reported.
Coltrane only knew the teen's first name and his telephone number, but it was enough for police to track down his address and take him to a county medical health clinic.
"I felt ... he reached out to me for guidance and help," Colrane told KCRA 3 News in California. "That's what he said. He said, 'I need someone to talk to. You're the only one I feel as though I can talk to.'"
The teen told Coltrane the suicide attempt was no one else's business.
"I said, 'Well, it's my business now, because you brung [sic] me into it,'" Coltrane said, according to KRCA 3 News. "I did tell him, though, when I was talking to him that when he first started, that I [would] call the police station."
In November, a Florida teen killed himself in front of an online audience of thousands, dying of a deliberate drug overdose before someone finally called police.
