Russian President Meets with Cuban Leader for Informal Talks

Russia's president is meeting with Cuban leader Raul Castro for informal talks and a walk in the woods at a government resort outside Moscow.

Castro is on an eight-day visit as the Cold War allies seek to reinvigorate relations, part of a push by Moscow to bolster its influence in Latin America.

They met at a hunting lodge north of Moscow Thursday evening before more formal talks in the Kremlin Friday.

Medvedev helped wrap a coat around Castro's shoulders when he emerged from a car before heading out for a stroll. Medvedev said Castro had been to the same site 25 years ago, and Castro recalled eating pork fat roasted over an open flame.

Medvedev said they would have the same dish and discuss Russian-Cuban cooperation.
