ANCHORAGE, Alaska – A strong earthquake rattled Alaska's Cook Inlet but there have been no reports of damage.
Alaska State Troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters says the agency's 911 dispatch center in Soldotna received numerous calls alerting officials to the earthquake just after 9 a.m. Saturday.
The U.S. Geological Survey rated the quake at magnitude 6.1 and the West Coast and Alaska Tsunami Warning Center gave it a preliminary magnitude of 5.7.
No tsunami warning was generated by the event.
The Alaska Earthquake Information Center says the earthquake was centered about 45 miles southwest of Homer.
