Police: Drunk Coed Driver Passed Out at Stop Sign

Athens police say an officer found a drunken 20-year-old University of Georgia student who tried to drive home after a party passed out at a stop sign with the car still running.

The officer found the woman about 2 a.m. Sunday asleep — with the car still in drive. The officer put the car in park and turned off the engine.

When the woman awoke a few minutes later, she told police she'd been drinking at a house party earlier that night.

The woman, who was not identified, was charged with a DUI and underage drinking.
