The district attorney's office said a 16-year-old boy was fatally stabbed New Year's Eve on a bus in Boston's Dorchester neighborhood.

Jake Wark, a spokesman for the Suffolk District Attorney's office, said Wednesday night the teenager was stabbed on a Route 28 MBTA bus at about 9:30 p.m. and pronounced dead at Boston Medical Center.

Wark said the boy is from the Roxbury neighborhood, but his name would not be immediately released.

State police and transit police are investigating the attack.
