Florida Man in Jail After Allegedly Stealing Sister's Christmas Gifts

Published January 13, 2015

Associated Press

An 18-year-old central Florida man is in jail after his mother called the sheriff's office and accused him of stealing his sister's Christmas gifts.

A sheriff's report says Joseph Franklin Kendall's mother called authorities to report that gifts for her son and daughter had gone missing including a laptop computer and DVD player. Her son had just moved out of the house.

A deputy later found the gifts at Kendall's new home as well as prescription drugs. Kendall told a deputy he had taken the presents but hadn't meant to take his sister's gifts.

Authorities charged him Wednesday with grand theft, having prescription drugs without a prescription, and possession of marijuana and drug a paraphernalia. He was still in jail Sunday. Bond was set at $13,000.
