Lafayette police have identified the body found Saturday by a runner participating in a half marathon.

The woman was identified Monday as 47-year-old Bonnie Ruphard, who originally is from Illinois but is believed to have been working in the Lafayette area.

Cpl. Paul Mouton, spokesman for the Lafayette Police Department, said the runner discovered Ruphard's body about 7:30 a.m. in an area near Acadiana Park.

Investigators suspect foul play in the woman's death but still are awaiting the examiner's report to determine the exact cause of her death.

Mouton said the length of time the body had been in the woods has yet to be determined.
