All great shows deserve a spin-off. The latest to prove this adage?

As the science fiction series, which itself was spawned by the 1978 series of the same name, enters its final season, the Sc-Fi Channel has announced a prequel to take its place in their schedule.

"Caprica," starring Eric Stoltz and Esai Morales, is scheduled to start production in 2009 and make its debut in 2010.
For all of you "Galactica" heads, the story takes place 50 years before the current series started, and focuses on the planet Caprica, and the development of the Cyclons.
