A Florida armored truck guard was killed during an apparent armed robbery at a Miami mall.
Miami-Dade police spokesman Det. Aida Fina-Milian said two gunmen are on the loose after the shooting Monday inside the Express store at the Dadeland Mall. Another person also was injured.
The man was shot at Dadeland Mall at around 11:15 a.m. near Macy's, the Miami Herald reported.
The shooting occurred during an attempted robbery of a Dunbar armored truck, FOX affiliate WSVN-TV reports.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue spokeswoman Alejandra Castro-Nunez said authorities transported one person to the hospital by helicopter. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Aerial news footage showed an armored car parked in front of the mall surrounded by police and fire rescue officials.
Jennie Block, 59, was shopping for clothes when she said she heard about 10 gunshots from a nearby store. "There was screaming and yelling and chaos," she said.
Jorge Divo was in the food court when he saw a crowd of shoppers running, screaming "that someone had been shot."
Miami-Dade police on the scene sealed off the mall's entrances and placed the shopping center on lockdown.
