Police say an attorney was Tasered by officers during a meeting of the Tampa Code Enforcement Board.

A Tampa Police spokesman says 53-year-old Carl Roland Hayes was addressing the board Wednesday when he became visibly upset. He was asked to leave the meeting.

As an officer escorted him from the meeting, Tampa Police Lt. Ronald McMullen says Hayes slapped the officer in the face. The officer deployed his Taser gun on Hayes wit no effect. So the officer "drive stunned" Hayes, placing the stun gun against Hayes' skin before handcuffing him as he struggled.

Hayes is charged with battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest with violence and trespassing after warning. He did not immediately have an attorney.
