One man is dead and three others injured in what police say was a home invasion in Houston.

Investigators believe that three or four suspects broke into a house at about 11:30 p.m. Monday and fired several shots, according to FOX affiliate KRIV-TV in Houston.

Three people were taken to the hospital and another was killed in the robbery, according to KRIV. The homeowner survived.

Because of a series of confusing calls from the scene to 911, dispatchers were not initially clear about what was going on.

Police arrived at the house about 4:30 a.m. Tuesday and found the dead man at the scene, according to KRIV.

The conditions of the three wounded were not known. There was no other information immediately available.
