A premature baby boy who weighed just 1 pound, 3 ounces at birth has gone home from a Colorado Springs hospital, tipping the scales at a relatively hefty 5 pounds.
Ricardo Morales-Coronado was born in June at just 23 weeks. Doctors say babies born that early have a 25 percent chance of surviving.
His parents, Catalina Coronado and Octavio Morales, took him home from Penrose-St. Francis Hospital on Wednesday.
Penrose-St. Francis officials say he's the smallest baby ever cared for in their system.
