Aviation officials say an American Airlines Boeing 757 has blown a tire and run off a runway during an emergency landing at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the airline say no injuries have been reported in the Monday afternoon incident.

They say the plane came to rest with its wheels on a grassy area off the runway.

FAA spokeswoman Elizabeth Isham Cory says American flight 268 was en route from Seattle-Tacoma in Washington state to New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport when a cockpit indicator light alerted pilots to a problem.

The plane was diverted to O'Hare, and it blew a tire while making its landing.
