A 19-year-old high school student in Washington will have to go somewhere else for his education after he reportedly smeared peanut butter on the forehead of another student with a peanut allergy.

The targeted student had no allergic reaction but police are investigating the incident, which occurred at Menatchee High School during lunchtime, police Sgt. Cherie Smith said.

Police think the suspended student was aware of the other student's allergy. There apparently had been discussion of the issue at lunchtime Monday, The Wenatchee World newspaper reported. The 19-year-old reportedly stuck his finger in the peanut butter sandwich of another student, then rubbed the allergic student's forehead.

The allergic student doesn't want to pursue the case, Smith said. But police plan to forward their information to the prosecutor's office for review.
