Storm evacuees often return to find that they have lost everything, including their car. But one family who left town to get out of hurricane Gustav's way got to bring a new one home with them.
The Sun Herald reports that the Cadieres of Marrero, Louisiana were on their way home from Georgia, where they went to ride out the storm, stopping at the Hollywood Casino in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi for the night.
After a few rounds on the "Ticket to Drive" nickel slot machine, Louis Cadiere hit the jackpot, winning a brand new Ford Mustang convertible worth over $30,000.
"The machine went crazy making all kinds of noise," he said. "I wasn't thinking of casinos, although we love to come to Hollywood, I was trying to get out of harm's way."
When they eventually made it home, the Cadieres were relieved to find that their home suffered no damage from the storm.Click here for more on this story from the Sun Herald,
