MADISON, Wis. – An assistant Wisconsin attorney general will help prosecute a man accused of shooting three young people at a swimming hole on the border with Michigan.
Marinette County District Attorney Brent DeBord asked Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen on Tuesday for help trying 38-year-old Scott J. Johnson of Kingsford, Mich.
Police believe Johnson stepped out of the woods on Thursday and gunned down 17-year-old Tiffany Pohlson, 18-year-old Anthony Spigarelli and 19-year-old Bryan Mort. All three were from Michigan.
Johnson surrendered Friday morning after an all-night manhunt, but he has yet to be formally charged.
State Justice Department spokesman Bill Cosh says the assistant AG will not take the lead on the case, instead assisting DeBord.
