Iowa Man Arrested for Biting Off Man's Nose

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Maybe Donroy Merrival bit off more than he could chew when he got into an argument with another man.

Merrival is accused of biting off another man's nose last week in Iowa City.

Police say the victim first hit Merrival with a shovel Thursday night. They say Merrival responded by biting off the man's nose and part of his lip.

The nose was not recovered but police say Merrival didn't think he swallowed it.

Police say the victim will be permanently disfigured.

Both men were taken to the hospital for treatment.

Merrival was charged Tuesday. He was being held in the Johnson County jail under $30,000 bond.
