Police Catch Crook Hiding in Garbage-Filled Trash Can

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Authorities in Kalamazoo say they only had to look in the trash to nab a man who fled police.

Kalamazoo Public Safety says in a statement that officers were called early Monday about a man reportedly carrying a gun in a street. Officers say the man fled on foot after they arrived at the scene.

Police say a K-9 dog helped them find a 37-year-old Kalamazoo man hiding in a garbage-filled curbside trash can. Authorities say a gun they think he was carrying was found in another trash receptacle nearby.

The man was being held at the Kalamazoo County Jail.
