Health officials say an Omaha resident has been diagnosed with active tuberculosis, which is contagious.

State health officials are working with Douglas and Sarpy County health agencies on the case.

Officials say 10 of the infected person's co-workers have been tested and have showed no signs of the disease.

Tuberculosis can be spread through the air when an infected person coughs or sneezes.

It is a bacterial infection that usually attacks the lungs. TB symptoms include a low-grade fever, night sweats, fatigue, weight loss and a persistent cough.
