The daughter of Austrian incest father Josef Fritzl has accused him of murdering her baby.

Elisabeth, 42, told prosecutors during four days of testimony that Fritzl was responsible for three-day-old Michael’s death.

The baby was among twins born in 1997 to Elisabeth, who had seven children by Fritzl during her 24 years in a dungeon at the family home in Amstetten, Austria.

He died and Fritzl tossed his body in a furnace.

Prosecutors must decide if the tot could have been saved if he had taken him to hospital.

Elisabeth’s testimony will spare her children the torment of having to give evidence in court. Three children stayed in the cellar with her and three lived with Fritzl.

Austrian police chief Franz Polzer said: “There is a mountain of evidence against him. There will be no need to make the children, who are already scarred, talk about what happened.”

Fritzl, 74, is expected to stand trial in the autumn for crimes including rape, child cruelty and false imprisonment.

He could be charged with murder or manslaughter over baby Michael.
