Syria's Foreign Minister says the United States is not giving his country the equipment needed to prevent foreign fighters from crossing into Iraq.

Walid al-Moallem said Washington fears Syria could use such equipment against Israel. Al-Moallem did not specify what type of equipment he was referring to, but it is believed to be night-vision gear.

Al-Moallem told Lebanon's Orange TV on Wednesday that the U.S. is also pressuring other countries not to give Syria such equipment.

The U.S. accused Syria of being behind the flow of foreign fighters into Iraq. Syria denied the claim and said it's impossible to control the long desert border.
