Police have recovered the 1997 maroon Ford Crown Victoria apparently driven by 16-year-old Antoinetta Smith, but a search continues for her and a 1-year-old toddler she was baby-sitting.

Police said the vehicle belonging to the child's mother was found Friday night in Birmingham's Central Park neighborhood.

A search continues for Smith and 1-year-old Treshon M. Williams.

An Amber Alert was issued earlier Friday for Smith and the child.

The two were last seen Thursday at approximately 10 p.m.

Police identified the child as a relative of the baby sitter. Detective Warren Cotton says all police know is she took the child without permission.

Police urged anyone with information on their whereabouts to call the police Family Services Unit at (205) 254-0800.
